Tammy On Tuesday ~ He Will Make A Door

There was a time early in my Christian journey that I began to learn to take each opportunity and endeavor to God in prayer. Often I would look out at the world of opportunity and wonder, Do I go here or do I go there? Do I choose this or do I choose that? Big or small, I would ask God for His desires in each situation all the way down to God, should I be buying this?

I was thrilled to find that God was not only interested in the choices I brought before Him but He delighted to show me the path He desired for me to take. Moreover, I began to understand He delighted simply to commune with me daily.

4 Show me the right path, O LORD;

point out the road for me to follow.

5 Lead me by your truth and teach me,

for you are the God who saves me.

All day long I put my hope in you.

Psalm 25:4-5

You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.

Psalm 16:11

Your own ears will hear him. Right behind you a voice will say, “This is the way you should go,” whether to the right or to the left.

Isaiah 30:21

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart;

do not depend on your own understanding.

6 Seek his will in all you do,

and he will show you which path to take.

Proverbs 3:5-6

I can’t tell you what relief it brought me to know that I could trust God, the Creator of the Universe, to direct my paths. Honestly, with a whole world of people to govern, it’s easy to think God doesn’t have time for the details of my little life. But He is ever present and ever faithful.

In fact, going to God in this way takes one from the ordinary into extraordinary, eternally significant opportunities in life. This is God’s way. He leads. We follow. And it’s a beautiful thing!

This is God’s way. He leads. We follow.

However, the exercise of following daily has taken on a new shape for me now that I have been at the business of following after Christ for a while.

As I ponder the path I have taken in recent years I’m learning that God’s direction has more to do with sanctification than it does with getting to any certain place in life. I’ve been looking out and ahead while all the while He has been looking in.

I’ve been looking out and ahead while all the while He has been looking in.

The reality is…

He began to show me the way for me,

so that He teach me to let Him have His way with me,

SO THAT, He could show me His Way in me.

I hope you don’t rush through what I just said. Read it slowly and let it sink in.

Learning that God is most interested in having His way IN ME has come about through meeting up with many dead ends in life.

God, you led me down this path. Look! Now we’re at a dead end. There is no way to turn. There is no hopeful path in sight. How can THIS be Your way?

Well it’s this simple…while I spoke with a friend in passing the other day she asked how things were going. I basically said, “A lot of things are seemingly impossible.” And what I meant was that lately, God was bringing me to dead ends in quite a few areas in my life, impossible situations. But then I told her. “I’m realizing that sometimes God brings us to a dead end and then makes a door.”

Over the years, I have learned that God can direct paths. Now I’m learning He can make paths where no path exists. That’s the kind of God I serve!

I’m learning He can make paths where no path exists.

Where’s that hanky? I feel like waving it!

The other day I jotted a verse in my journal that truly encourages me right now.

Isaiah 50:10 says, Who among you fears the LORD and obeys his servant? If you are walking in darkness, without a ray of light, trust in the LORD and rely on your God.

RELY ON HIM.

Friend, wait for Him to make a door.

He is faithful and He will do it!

Does life seem impossible for you right now, a series of dead ends, even though you have forsaken your way for His?

I’d love to pray for you and intercede on your behalf that God would glorify Himself in the dead end you are facing right now by making a door. Trust Him in your darkness. Remember He promises to make KNOWN to you the path of LIFE – a path of fullness of joy and pleasures evermore.

He will make a door.
